Privacy

There are no accounts here and we never ask for your name, e-mail address or anything else about you. What follows is everything this site stores.

What is stored

• An identity cookie (pet_id): a random value set on your first visit and kept for a year. Only its salted SHA-256 hash is stored. It exists so the rate limits and the one-vote-per-person rules have something to count.
• A handle derived from that hash, like visitor-0473. It is shown next to what you say and is the only name anyone sees.
• What you say to the creature, and its reply, against that hash. Messages are kept for 30 days, then deleted. Blocked messages are stored the same way and shown to nobody.
• Which beliefs you confirmed or contradicted, and which name you voted for, so you count once each.
• Daily totals of page views and unique visitors, from that hash, so we can tell whether anyone is here.

Your IP address is used only for rate limiting. It is not stored and is not part of your identity, so changing network does not make you a different visitor.

Who else sees it

OpenAI receives the text of each message, to check it, answer it and compare it with what the creature already believes. It does not receive your cookie, your address or your hash. Nothing else leaves this server.

What is public

Messages, beliefs and handles are shown to everyone on the site - that is the point of it. The graveyard keeps each dead creature's final words and its personality permanently. Do not type anything into it you would not want kept.

Your choices

Clearing this site's cookies resets you completely; the old hash is then orphaned and meaningless. Anything else, write to [email protected].
